DHL celebrated the inauguration of its newly expanded hub for the Americas at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky (CVG) Airport. DHL, the air cargo division of Germany's Deutsche Post, invested $110 million to expand the CVG facility into a super-hub for the Americas trade, joining its other two super-hubs in Leipzig and Hong Kong. DHL has also been investing in smaller hubs in Miami, Mexico City and Panama for transshipment to South America and the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America, respectively. DHL flies cargo from Asia to its CVG hub overnight and then to its Panama and Miami hubs in the next day and from there in one to two days down to the rest of South America.
